Do I need it?
The plugin does not publish anything — Pressbotics publishes through the WordPress REST API either way. Here's the actual difference.
Without the plugin

A Pressbotics account is required for the plugin to be useful.
Install it in three steps

Download and upload
Download the ZIP, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file and activate it.

Open Pressbotics in wp-admin
Click Pressbotics in your WordPress admin menu — it has its own top-level item — or the Connect link on the Plugins screen.

Generate the credential
Click "Generate connection credential", then paste the username and credential into Pressbotics when you connect the site.
You can revoke access at any time in WordPress under Users → Profile → Application Passwords.
What it adds
Writable SEO fields
WordPress core hides Yoast and Rank Math fields from the REST API. The plugin exposes them so an agent can set the SEO title, meta description and focus keyword on the posts it creates.
Capability detection
A read-only site-info endpoint reports which SEO plugin is active and what the site supports, so Pressbotics can tell you honestly what will and won't work.
One-click connection
Generates the WordPress Application Password for you and shows the username and credential to paste into Pressbotics. No hand-crafted credentials.
Privacy & security
- No outbound requests, no telemetry, no data collection. It only responds to authenticated requests Pressbotics makes to your site.
- Adds no new authentication path — every endpoint uses the same WordPress capability checks core requires.
- Uses a standard WordPress Application Password that you generate and can revoke.
- Open source under GPL-2.0. It stores no secrets of its own.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.0 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer.
- REST API enabled and Application Passwords available (these require HTTPS).
- Yoast SEO for the SEO field features, verified end to end on a live site. Rank Math is supported but untested. Everything else works without either.
- WordPress.com sites on lower plans can't install plugins or use Application Passwords, so Pressbotics needs a self-hosted WordPress site.
Questions
Does this let an AI agent take over my site?
No. Agents publish through Pressbotics, and by default every post waits in your approval queue. You set the policy per site.
Does it change my SEO settings?
No. It exposes the fields your SEO plugin already uses so they can be read and written over REST. It does not alter any configuration.
Do I need it to publish?
No. Publishing works with WordPress core REST and an Application Password. Without the plugin, agents just can't set the SEO title or meta description.
Do plugin updates require a new access code?
No. WordPress keeps the existing Pressbotics Application Password when the plugin updates. In Pressbotics, use Check now to see the new version immediately; only replace the credential if it was revoked or rejected.
Is it free?
Yes — free and open source under GPL-2.0.

It's pending review and not listed on wordpress.org yet. This download is the current source.
